the surgery at stanford yesterday was very successful and they were able to remove the mass and also close the palate with some extra tissue that they didn't see before. this is even better news than we expected because now if they have to go back and give her a "tune up" they still have the muscle tissue to use for any extra procedures.
maddie is feeling much better today but had a really hard night. she soothes herself by sucking her thumb and although she finally fell into a very deep sleep around 1am this morning she had to wear an elbow brace the entire night, which made it very rough for her. but, as the day is progressing she's doing better and better and her strength is returning. right now i am taking the opportunity to have a mama break for a few minutes while maddie and her papa and nonna are in the playroom, a magical place that has been so good for her. also, there is the possibility that we'll be coming home later tonight if she will drink some more water or juice [ ice cream seems to go down fine, btw 8-) ]. which is wonderful news.
thanks again for all of the good thoughts, prayers and wishes. i felt them yesterday with my entire being and they helped more than you could ever know.
Oh I'm so happy to hear this wonderful news! There should be a box showing up for her tomorrow at your PO box:): )

Just read your blog (linked from Poppy Ink). I'm glad to hear that your beautiful little daughter tolerated her surgery well. My 5-year-old had her tonsils out a few months ago so I know how you feel.
Best wishes,
Karen

Ohhhh i just read ur whole blog and what ur lil darling is going thru! That is rough! My heart goes out to u and her! Major surgery is a hard thing to put ur child thru and we always wonder if we are doing the right thing no matter what it is in their life. My babies and I all wish her a speedy and painless recovery! My thoughts are with you both.
