creative spice

meet my new loves. i bought these two indian spice containers at cost plus to hold my glitter and embossing powders, things i have been using alot lately it seems. i love how they look in the silver containers and i love the little spoons for drizzling on a little bit of shimmer whenever i need it.

in other news we packed up and came home from tahoe yesterday. thank you for all the sweet words and definitely thank you for understanding what i was trying to say. i want to make sure that you understand that i was not complaining about being there. yes, tahoe is amazing. yes, tahoe was wonderful and i enjoyed every minute. yes, we are lucky that we could get away for a week in such a peaceful and serene environment.

but for me, on this trip, it was hard settling my mind and doing nothing, especially at night. so... i made the executive mama decision and we headed home. but we'll be back. you can bet on it!

jittery silence

the kids and i are in lake tahoe spending the week enjoying the snow, the condo and the silence. it's really amazing up here, one of my most favorite places to get away to, but the silence and serenity of being here, just the three of us {mike had to get back to work on monday... and we miss him!} has been stirring something emotionally in me this time. my mind keeps telling itself how bored i am, that there's nothing to do. i keep feeling jittery and emotional and want to just stuff my face with food and snacks to fill up the void.

last night was when it really hit me. at about 8pm, after the kids were snuggled in bed i was literally pacing upstairs. i know there is a lesson i'm learning about myself right now, and i feel a emotional and creative break through coming... i keep feeling that there is a reason i'm feeling so lonely. a reason why i can't just be still. and i want to be still. i want to be able to quiet myself while i'm here.

i want my mind and heart to settle down before the craziness of life begins again when we get home next week. i need it. maybe just asking for the stillness will help.

finding the daisy d's wonder years line at beverly's this morning. and having these papers and her work set off a new burst of inspiration for me. i can't wait to make something this afternoon.

finding these three vintage pretties during the last weeks thrift store hunts. a vintage floral sheet. mini dennison labels in a skinny size i haven't seen before but LOVE! a vintage almanac just waiting to be altered.

monday loves

1. first frameworks class is now posted and you can see the little snippets in that teaser above. such an amazing group of women joining me and there's still plenty of room. and $12 is such a steal, don't you think? so why haven't you signed up yet? lol

2. SIStv and the new entry page. holy smokes. it's fun and fresh and invigorating. make sure you check it out!

3. the new SIStv collection "sophisticate". with paint and a mini silver plate and tim holtz acrylic tiles. cannot wait to get the time to play with this!

4. i'm planning my class for the SISiversary event today and so grateful that the amazing paul & kezia at tinkering ink plus hambly & JJ have all so graciously decided to sponsor it and me. the product i've chosen is amazing. oh my. i love the product! more info next week with the big reveal at SIStv.

5. it's bright and sunny and 70 degrees today. i think a scooter ride {kids} and walk {me} is in order this afternoon. definitely.

6. our vacation to the condo in north tahoe {and hopefully some snow} starts on saturday. i adore tahoe!

7. hearing this girl and this girls voice on the phone today. they ground me and always makes my day brighter.

8. and total last minute but i get to go here. and i get to take a class with the amazing jenni bowlin. she has been a favorite since forever and a day and i am thrilled. thrilled!

9. it's celine's birthday. i just met this sweet girl but she's already won my heart. now go wish her a happy day.

sweet fairies

whew. took me longer than i thought but most of the new items are now in my shop. and this sweet thing is my favorite project kit to date. a little glass bottle filled with the sweetest vintage fairy picture and paper and bits. it also come with three other prints in case you like one of them better and it should only take about 1/2 an hour to make.

ok, off now to wake up ben. we're headed to the movies to see horton hears a who, i'm not sure who's more excited... them or me.

etsy shop update

i've been working away getting some new things ready for the shop. lots of vintage trims and paper/wallpaper packs as well as a sweet little project kit that i adore. it's so fun pulling things from my stash to put together for you. so look for the update tomorrow at 2pm pst.

also, i was tagged by sweet celine and becky with the 7 randoms that has been floating around. i did this once last year so it'll be interesting to see if i can come up with 7 new ones... hmm...

1. i always put my left shoe on first. always.
2. i don't like flying. it's such a hard thought process to explain. i love flying but ever since having the kids i obsessively worry that the plane will crash and they will live their lives without me. which i hilarious because i know i have a higher chance of getting in a car accident. maybe it's a control issue... and the fact that i can't *see* ahead of me.
3. i obsessively collect vintage textiles. but i never use them. which is why tomorrows shop update should be good... as long as i can get myself in gear to put the fabric packs together and then give them kisses to go out into the world. lol
4. i was a competitive swimmer for 18 years, butterfly and long distance. and i haven't been in the water swimming laps in over a year. ugh. gotta change that!
5. birth control and me don't mix. the only times i have been on it consistently were the times i got pregnant with maddie and ben.
6. my dream job is to be a product designer.
7. i have over 357 blogs on my read list. seriously! i don't read them all everyday but sometime during the month i will read each and everyone of them, or at least look at the pictures. ok. truth be told. i mainly look at the pictures.
