*sigh*
this is the add-on "hodge podge" that will be available in limited quantities on the 15th. some of my most favorite items are in here. perfect to use as an add-on for the main kit or as a simple project kit. i think most of us made minis except jayne, who made something i adore. cannot wait to share that!
in addition to all of our sneak peeks we {me & the creative team} are all offering some fun raks and giveaways on each of our blogs, all you have to do is tell us a story. i want to know about a street you grew up on. if you leave your comment here i'll enter your name 1 time. leave a comment here with a link to a blog post you've written that includes a link to kenner road and i'll enter your name for my rak 5 times.
yup. FIVE TIMES!
now i'm sure you want to know what i'm giving away, right? sure you do. but first i want to tell YOU a little story.... about kenner road.
when i started thinking about starting a kit club {after getting numerous requests from friends} i kept thinking of what i would call it. and the only name that kept creeping into my mind over & over was the little street in the middle of the central valley, out in the middle of nowhere and 30 minutes from the nearest town, where i grew up. kenner road. the place where i spent so much time outdoors. running through the nearby orchards, picking apricots and almonds and eating them fresh from the branches. skipping over to the neighbors to see how the baby bunnies were growing. riding my sweet horse missy up and down our walnut orchard and sometimes places i shouldn't tell my mother i went... riding through the irrigation probably wasn't the safest thing to do. sorry mom!
living on kenner road was at times s struggle for our family and for most of my life i have looked back on that time as one of hurt and pain, only concentrating on the hurt. but as i've gotten older and started raising my children i have realized that there were many magical moments, moments i only wished i could grant for them. about 6 months ago i really started searching and thinking about those moments, the ones that were good. the sense of freedom that no matter how hard you try you just can't experience in a town, in a city, in a suburban neighborhood. the way i would wake in the morning, eat breakfast and bolt out the door... and not set foot back inside until dusk.
i've been missing it lately, the country life of my childhood and reminiscing alot about that time. i feel very grateful that i can take that part of my life, such a privileged childhood experience and share it with you through kenner road. it's where i started and it molded a large part of me into who i am today.
so i'm starting down a new road now. one filled with memories past, the blessed life i am living now and a future that excites and inspires me. i am surrounded by a supportive and encouraging family, amazing friends who i treasure and a craft that i adore.
and to get that path started i am thrilled to give away a SIX MONTH subscription to kenner road to one of you. whether you are an old friend or new, just hearing about the site and our kits or someone who has already subscribed i hope that we will be somewhere that you enjoy visiting. i hope that we will be a place where you feel comfortable, like we're sitting on the back porch sipping some iced tea and chatting while the kids run free in the garden.
extra rak info : you have until monday 09.15 at 12 noon to enter and i'll announce the lucky person on tuesday. if you've already subscribed or are planning to do so on monday please feel free to do so & still enter the contest, i will happily refund your subscription if you're the lucky recipient.
contest is now closed... check back tomorrow for the winner!!
also, i've been getting alot of emails today asking for faq about subscriptions, ordering, shipping & more. our site will be launching by sunday morning and i highly suggest that you make sure to go read the "about" section on sunday so you understand how it all will work. but if you still need more info please feel free to email me {{ info [at!] kenner road [dot!] com }} and i'll be happy to answer anything that i can.
happy friday my sweet friends.
xoxo

Oh my goodness, don't know where to start. I'm 45 years old and have probably lived in about 25 different houses growing up! My Dad worked in the farming industry and we moved nearly every year. We lived in New Zealand, twice, and all over England until I came back to Norfolk where we live now in 1986 and have only moved twice since then!! I must get the names of all of the places and dates from my Mum and do a layout one of these days.

I am still living on the road i grew up on - Upper Lick Road in Moorefield Kentucky. Just a country road where you neighbors care about you and help you out when you are in need. That is my best memory of people coming in mass with food and love whenever there was a need or to help on the farm whenever my dad needed some help!! I wish i had a blog to post to but... ya know i am still a country girl at heart!!

the main street that i grew up on, and where my parents still reside today is, on a humungous hill in once was a small spanish farming community. it has character, charm, and so many stories walking home from swim practice or highschool my frosh year, i still remember as i drive up it these days for a visit.

Hi, I don't have a blog but I do visit the best kit club message board around called Willow Traders and I'll them know about your new club. So here is my story and a link to Willow Traders with the Thread (but you have to be registered-so stop and register and say hi):
Well this is where I grow up on a road called Oak Lane. I was the only girl among many boys. I enjoyed playing with them. We played cops and robbers, building tree forts, riding bikes, stay outside way past midnight, walk on the railroad tracks and all the stuff boys did and years after this I started to 'like" one of the boys and soon (around age 13) started hanging out with just him. We would watch tv, walk up the road holding hands (but stop when we got in front of my house so my parents wouldn't see). We remained friends for years and after starting high school we stopped hanging out with each other and then life happened I grew up and moved away. I still see him time to time.

Thank you for the chance and I can't wait to see you new club-by the looks of it-it is my style!

Just LOVE this new kit! Your blog has prompted me to think back to the road I grew up on. It was a lovely street lined with majestic Elm trees. I can recall the sound the horses made on the road as the milkman delivered the milk, and the call of the vegetable/fruit vendor selling his wares from the back of his pick-up truck. I loved growing up on this little street in old Toronto...many, many cherished memories!

I grew up on Henderson Road on a 39 acre farm (the 40th acre had a one room schoolhouse where I went to Kindergarten).
We had a barn shaped playhouse. A shy, freckle-faced strawberry blonde, who loved to read and climb trees, that was me!

When I read your post about where you grew up it really touched my heart. We lived outside of city limits and had our mail delivered in town to a post office box. Our physical address was 13th St. and Elm Ave. No house number. My parents rented their 10 acres to farmers. Memories include something similar to yours: we played in irrigation ditches, vineyards, corn fields, tomato fields. The five of us stayed outside working or playing until dusk and summertime went on forever.

A fond childhood memory of a place I lived was Avelino Drive. I am an Army brat, so I never lived in one place too long. I am also the baby in the family, so this was the last place that our family lived all together. My fondest memory, though, was my brother taking me on his bike to this path nearby that led to the elementary school. It had was long and steep (at least as I remember it! LOL) and we would ride down the hill together, then walk the bike back up the hill just to do it all over again. I loved every minute of it. :)

I grew up on Parker St. It was right new Rocky Bayou. I had great friends that moved in and out. I remember the younger years my best friend was Betsy Byrd. She moved to Alabama about 3rd grade. Then Mrs. Nancy and Mr. Jake moved in to her house. The "old" people in my neighborhood are wonderful-still are. They are my role models for my marriage and life. The Jacobs, Combs, and Kolz all taught me lessons for life. I moved there in 2nd grade and for some reason I will never forget that I lived at 1002 Palm Blvd before that. I don't remember much of that address other than I use to throw love letters at Ed Scofield (my sister's friend) while they played basketball, lol! But my real memories and childhood friends/fun came from Parker. I am going to have to do a layout on this!! I do have photos of the street sign and neighborhood, as well as my favorite old people :) Thanks for the memories.
I also posted your link to the kit club on my blog here: http://eeyorelover42.blogspot.com/2008/09/welcome-fall.html

ok so i'm entering lol because i just loved my kit and plan on subscribing anyway. ha!
i grew up on lark street in scotia, ny. we spent our summer days in the pool, down at the elementary school, and riding our bikes around and around the sidewalked blocks. we had a lot of freedom - weren't allowed to cross certain roads without permission but beyond that i'm not sure my mother knew where we were every minute of the day. we had to be in by the time the street light came on so we were always cognizant of how dark it was getting. fun times!

What an awesome RAK!! I would so love to win a 6 month subscription to Kenner Road... it looks like it's going to be amazing!
I grew up on many streets as we moved every 2-3 years due to my dad's job with a big computer company. Many of the streets names have escaped me as I wasn't there long enough to form an attachment to a particular street. No matter what street we lived on, my parents strived to give us a sense of security and "home" in our surroundings. For as much as our streets may have changed, the feeling of family never did. I now live on McKinley Street with my own family. And though my kids only have known this street, my desire is to create that same sense of security and home for them within our family. Blessings to you!

My childhood street was not a fancy name just plain old Rural Route 3. My parents still live there. We live in the country also and after living in both cities and country I feel country life is the only life for me.
I would love to win a subscription to your club! Beautiful kits!

well, I don't really have any place to put a link, but I will pass on the coolness of Kenner Road by word of mouth.
I will say here, growing up on Beach Road could not have been happier. 4 sisters, a million memories, wonderful parents. I consider myself most lucky.

Love the look of your club. Can't wait to see the reveal later on tonight.
I grew up on Fish Hatchery Road, way out in the country. No girls except me anywhere around. The land behind my parents house was and still is owned by the government, and used to be operated by the DNR. The DNR officers gave us permission to play out there as long as we were respectful of the land. As soon as my brother and I finished our chores each day, we were off. We spent most of our waking hours out in the woods. Some of my favorite memories are of pretending we were explorers, crossing over fallen trees, avoiding sink holes and splashing in the many old hatchery lakes trying to catch frogs on the banks.

I lived on Hickory Drive which was smack in the middle of the neighborhood. Our house was at the end of the street on a huge corner lot. It became the hub of the neighborhood. There were six of us kids and at any given time there were at least 8 bikes laying out in the driveway from friends being over and usually there were more. Nightly games of Kick the Can, Tag or SPUD took place and daily games of baseball and basketball were often seen. We built forts in our pine trees and played every pretend game we could think of. My parents had open arms to the kids of the neighborhood and it was known as a safe haven and a fun place to be. I had an idyllic childhood!
