the new hambly dt's frist gallery release is up {{here}}. such amazing women with such amazing talent. i always love seeing how different everyones take on the product is. hambly is so incredible, hand silk screened, no one else in this industry does that. it's like cutting tiny pieces of art.
plus, you all know how much i adore vanilla ;)
the layout above is my sweet man, boy do i still adore him. he puts up with my antics, like, say, deciding to start moving the furniture around on a whim sunday afternoon "because i need to open up the room, i'm getting visually claustrophobic in here".
he would like all of the items in our home to be permanently glued to one spot on our floor for the rest of our life here, i need to change it around as well as the wall art like i'm purchasing a new wardrobe. lucky for him however, i still shop from my own items.
it's just called rotation of vintage goods to me, instead of "oh great, let's switch out the old stuff for the other old stuff {again}" from him. ;)
i still love & adore these classic hambly rubons, they are just such the perfect love birds for an anniversary card. remember when the birds & owls were the hot trend instead of doilies and banners?
i like to finish the inside too, some border lace rubons & handcut extra sentiments. plus, i love how the bottom lace rubon peeks out from behind the pinked bottom edge when it's closed. it's the little details after all ;)
and please tell me i'm not the only person who ill scrap a picture more than once. i think i've even scrapped one particular one three times. oh the horror! lol sometimes i love that image so much, or even printed it twice by mistake or for a different idea, and i hate throwing them away.
oh, and if you're still reading, there's a fab giveaway on the hambly blog too. new summer release products. go. fast. win ;)
happy monday!

ps : also, did you see the jbs sneaks october? restoration people. res-tor-a-tion. you're welcome ;)
i found this in a friends facebook feed over the weekend. our sweet bean, 7 years ago.
the cheeks. the belly. the wrists!
this brings back so many memories of hanging at the kirk's, when co & i had only two little babes and wednesday mornings to fill with crawling babes and laughter. now our girls are in second grade and are followed around by little brothers with light sabers.
of course, now we also get girls night, so bring on the el cocqui & sangrias girls!!
happy tuesday!

hello thursday!
it's totally crazy that it's thursday already isn't it, where in darnations has this week gone? lol
i have a little rainbow love to share with you this morning, and it's a good thing too as i need something bright and cheerful to wake me as i stare out at the drizzly grey morning here in sonoma county. i swear we've had about a week of heat here this summer, otherwise it's been all overcast mornings and temps hovering around 78. not exactly pool weather, ya know? lol
anyways... in my last design team package from jbs we all got a sample pack of jenni's new ranger line of paints & ink pads to play with. the six colors you see in the layout above were in my package and i finally had a chance to get them out and play with them a few days ago.
i gotta admit the layout was kinda a secondary idea. i wanted to try out the daubers so i simply painted each colored arch on a piece of kraft cardstock, just a sample run, to see how the colors looked on the kraft and how opaque or sheer they were. each time i painted a new row, i'd hear that crack of the dauber top when the paint began to flow and i have to admit, it made me a little silly-happy. i felt like i was in kinder again getting messy with the finger paints only these aren't messy.
i also have to admit that it's been along time since i've done any collage work... since i was on creative therapy a few years ago i think. but, now that my hands are wet i have that good old itch to play in my art journal. i need to conjur up my inner dina, lol.
the mini butterflies are from the jbs summer CHA release as well and i love how cute they look layered over their matching colors. i just added some tiny attacher stamples and glued them on the arches. the border pieces {which you can see in the full lo pic} are from my jbs scrap stash, i just picked bright colorful pieces, cut them at random and glued them around the border, then stitched them in place with the machine. other than the paint dry time it was a super fast page to make.
also, just wanted to give you southern california girls {or those of you who like to travel for classes} a little heads up that i'll be teaching at artistic affaire moulin rouge in march 2011. registration begins on october 17th, yay!!
happy thursday!
