the best feeling ever

please excuse the cheesy grin. i was just so excited to see my projects in the 7gypsies booth and when dina says smile and point i do what she says. the truth to the matter is that i wanted to jump up and down and say "that's mine!!" "that's mine!!". lol

i think this is one of the most wonderful products ever reproduced. ever. the little clips and the vintage vibe and the fact that it hangs. perfection!

i will be sharing a mini tutorial on how i created some of the pieces of the tray on the 7gypsies blog in a few months {we rotate, just so ya know}. and i have to say the vellum over pattern paper with those punched butterflies is one of my most favorite parts. and the ruched seam binding. and the numbers on the clips. seriously, i could go on & on you know. ;)

 

my sweet grandparents. my grandmother lent me a few old photoalbums of them in their younger years and i found quite a few of my grandmother in her bathing suit which apparently she sent to him when he was stationed in the army in salt lake city during the war. are they not the cutest?

 

i think that tag above is my other favorite part. just a simple texture stamp from the venice set but i am a sucker for anything with a cross-hatch.

wedded bliss

the july gallery challenge is up on the kenner road blog and this is my project, and i must admit, new all-time favorite altered creation. it'll be on it's way to a sweet friend who recently got married... maybe you know her? i've been wanting to make mr & mrs ruiz something special to celebrate their new life together and those basic grey rubons were just itching to be used... they were the reason why i picked the olio rub-on book for the blue ribbon add-on so i best use them, dontach think? {there's a few more of this add-on left too... here}

the challenge was to use a stamp in your project and i used the ledger stamp as a background on the woodgrain flashcard that came in the sweetwater embellishment kit. just stamped it randomly two times and applied the rubons right over... it added just enough texture i think without being too busy.

you've got practically two weeks to create something with stamps and get it linked up and posted in the kenner road flickr gallery. go here to find out more!

friday flowers

i always love how heather has new flowers posted on her blog {usually on fridays} and thought i'd send you all some today. this button bouquet is in my may kenner road gallery and was completely inspired by janice and her lovely tutorial. the instant i saw the tutorial i whipped this up and the best part was that it took all of about 3 minutes from start to finish {that striped paper is the back of the rubon packaging from the sweet dreams add-on... it's so dreamy}. and then i saw pam's and now i want to make about a million more.

sometimes it just all happens at once

- the march kenner road kits sold out in less than 12 hours, which is crazy good. so i've been processing the orders and doing my best to get everything out before thursday.

- ben decided that the absolute best time to get a stomach bug was 2 hours before launch. seriously. you should have seen the man and i going from entering code to holding a 4 year old as they puke. ick!

- spent yesterday with a fire going sitting on the floor watching wall-e with said 4 year old feverish boy. other than the fever it was a mellow family pj day. {he's alot better now}

- maddie's art seems to have really taken off in the last day or so. she wants everything to look real and will ask me to draw it first so she can watch my technique. i taught her yesterday all about depth of field, all of her animals now have four legs and you can really see that she's getting it. what i wouldn't give for an advanced after school art program for her.

- these bobbins are part of my march gallery, making these was amazing. one of the best crafting times i have had lately. they actually started out as a mini book but then half way through i just knew they needed to be new art for the house. i really love the new 7gypsies products this year and was so looking forward to making something with the board books.

it's coming back to me.

creative therapy 48 : a secret you've been keeping

my inspiration and the need to create but most importantly that feeling i get when i do make things because it's such a process for me. for me the process is just as important, if not more so, than the end result.

sometimes i feel like my mind is overridden with so much visual stimulation that i just can't seem to get anything out. i read too many blogs. i spend too much time on the computer seeing and searching for art and inspiration until it just becomes an unmanageable jumble of images and thoughts and ideas all rattling around up in my head.

until last week when i was talking with gi and we made a little pact for february that is seeming to really lift me out.

just step away.
turn it off so the inspiration can turn on.

obviously i'm not the first to do this, i know dina has, we've spoken about it quite a few times, most recently at cha. gain some distance from all of the stimulation so that what you want to create can break through, and i have to say i'm really feeling it right now.

so i have my creed for february and it's doing me good.

and i'm just making something.
everyday.
