but sometimes you just get lucky. really, really lucky. we're loving the beautiful, no - stunning!, northern cali weather this week. high 70s with lots and lots of clear blue sky. just the perfect weather for a weeks break from kindergarten, hours of backyard play and helping magical 6 year olds turn themselves into a pega-corn because they just need to.

i've spent today in my jammies. playing with paint, which was an utter disaster. cutting paper. collecting and building and ripping it all apart again. i feel so lost in my little corner here. unable to get and truly feel what i want to make, and i want to make things so badly. i finally felt successful after about 5 tries. five times i started something and three times it ended up in the trash. fortunately the other items {my creative therapy prompt for next week - above; the beginnings of a ruffled garland - below} i feel good about. i just keep trying to remind myself that the process is just as important as the end result....
i know i'm not the only person who loves making things that goes through this, the slump. you've felt it too right, i know we all have. it just feels so weird right now because i just got back from cha and i feel so inspired. so in love with making things and art. i think it's partly sensory overload and partly because i want to start creating altered art more. i'll have to show you the few pics i took of the 7 gypsies booth, because it made me want to make things out of old things again. it was my favorite by far.
i've also been going over to kari's year of color blog {i'm guest blogging there in october} to read and be inspired by all of the other amazing women who are collaborating with her. such an amazing concept really, each month is a new color inspiration and the ideas, tutorials and pictures are wonderful.
ok.... back to my corner, i may be able to crank out one more project i've been dreaming about for a while.

and ready for it all. that is exactly how i feel today. for a moment as i was writing that it seemed a bit cliche, but it's the truth. i've been madly creating over the last few days which has just made my heart full. amazing how creativity does that for me. it balances me and makes me more grounded. quells all of the thoughts in my head as i get them out. makes my hands happy to be busy.... these are sneak peeks of my gallery for the january kenner road kit's; some sunshine during the dull, grey, dreary winter months.

i've been quiet for three weeks. a much needed rest. a much needed time to take care of this one, my sweet ben, who got oh so sick over the holidays {pneumonia} and taught me a valuable lesson about trusting my gut and that doctors don't always know it all. they don't.
i learned over the past few weeks to not let others push my worries aside and simply tell me, when i know and know and know and know and KNOW! it is different, that i am wrong, that he just needs more steroids {he didn't... what he needed was an x-ray and i knew that!}.
i'm learning to be a better mama.

i took time to really be with these two. to enjoy maddies two weeks out of school. to know them right now, when they are this big. to hear their words and not let anything else get in the way.

i got to enjoy this man, my man, while he had nearly two weeks paid vacation. it was wonderful to see him lounging around with the littles, playing and laughing and making movies of geo trax. dinner wasn't as lonely because he was there with us, at the table, instead of eating his warmed up meal after the littles were in bed.
i'm learning to see how good he truly is.

i got to spend a day in the city with my mom. thrift store shopping. being silent in grace cathedral. eating at mel's and going to the junk yard {oh the goodies i found!!}.

i loved you and learned so much. i traveled and grew artistically and in the process lost myself only to find true friends holding my hand and sending me love when i was hurting. i saw friends lose loved ones with grace and dignity and learned to enjoy today while my heart hurt for them because they couldn't. i found my word for this year and trust it will make me a better me. i started a new business that makes me feel inspired everyday and makes me excited to create again.
